End of An Era
Updated 23th April 2018
Is it possible that we may see the end of the Chinese hub drive e-bikes?
We think not, they have their own market place. It's usually at a price point.
But the development of e-bikes globally has changed drastically over the last few years, and clearly will continue to do so.
You can now purchase Shinamo powered mid drives that are similarly priced to that of the hub drives out of China.
And that's a very good thing. Read up on mid drives vs hub drives, (we have a lot to say on that subject)
This has not gone unnoticed in China either.
The manufactures in China recognize the benefits of the mid drive over the hub drives,
and are working hard to bridge the gap and capture their share of the mid drive market, or get left behind globally.
In our experience with the Chinese mid drives, it must be said that the Chinese have a lot of work to do and a long way to go
if they are to become competitive to what others like Bosch and Shinamo have on offer.
It's only fair to say, You really should do your homework before deciding to make any purchase, mid drive or hub.
BTW, That's why we are here, to assist you with learning as much as you can, before you buy, not after.
There is nothing worse than buying something you regretted, and not getting what you wanted or expected out of it.
Is it possible to see Anebike providing e-bikes without the use of hub drive systems from China entirely?
I guess it's possible, We are already close to doing just that. But... This was not and is not intentional.
The market demand and our search for quality is what drives Anebike to it's range of e-bikes.
That Being Said
The last few years has proven to be a blessing in disguise.
We have learned much from our years of dealing with hub drive e-bikes out of China.
The costs of maintenance, the reliability, the issues associated with them, the build quality and so on.
Respectfully, In the past years, we had gone through a time where what we had sold in the past,
left us feeling like we had unintentionally let people down, and not delivered on the quality of goods as promised.
This did NOT and does NOT sit well with us. This never will either.
Yes, it is a choice, and yes, others may not feel the same as we do. I get that.
This has taught me one thing, it just goes to show, what one person is willing to do, others may not.
I have a responsibility to all our clients, and with the goods that we represent and sell.
Yes, this is a business, But... We are not here for the sake of the sale. That's our choice too.
Our natural progression from the hub drives of China to the mid drives of Bosch and Shimano has been inspiring.
During the warranty period our claims have dropped to virtually nothing in comparison
to that of the artificial hub drives, as I like to call them.
Our focus remains constant, to seek out and provide more affordable quality alternatives.
We are doing just that.
With the world getting smaller and the e-bikes are becoming more accessible,
We are finding plenty of new developments on the modern e-bikes that do more than fill the gap left behind.
FACT: ONE THING HAS BECOME VERY CLEAR
Just because a company states their products are NZ designed, does NOT make them NZ made, or NZ built.
There are NO New Zealand built ebikes. despite, some people are lead to believe there is.
The e-bike technology and the market is moving forward quite fast.
Anebike is working hard to continue to bring you newer generation e-bikes all the time.
As the e-bike market heats up, develops and expands, there are new e-bikes being developed with vast improvements
in technology, drive systems, efficiency and quality over the older e-bikes.
These new e-bikes are becoming more competitively priced then ever before.
They present better value than the old outdated models of yesterday.
What was current a few years ago is now regarded as outdated, and inefficient in comparison.
Modern technology changes all the time, the batteries are a larger capacity now, the motors are more powerful,
generally speaking, the e-bikes have become much better.
Buying an e-bike that is 3-5 years old in technology is like buying a 20-30 year old car.
We all want the best. To learn what that is, means doing a little bit of homework.
How can viewing only one brand of e-bike be the best way of finding out what is the best e-bike for your needs?
What we're saying is, have a really good look around, they are not all the same, and certainly not equal.
That's what competition is all about.
"That's what Anebike is all about"
