Hub Drive VS Mid Drive

Updated 27th July 2018

Is it possible that we may see the end of the Chinese hub drive e-bikes?
We think not, The hub drives have their own market place, and it's usually at a price point.
The development of e-bikes globally has changed drastically over the last few years, and clearly will continue to do so.
You can now purchase Shinamo powered mid drives that are similarly priced to that of the hub drives out of China.
And that's a very good thing. Read up on mid drives vs hub drives, there is a lot to cover on that subject.

The manufactures in China recognize some of the benefits of the mid drive over the hub drives,
and are working hard to bridge the gap and capture their share of the mid drive market.
In our experience with the Chinese mid drives, the Chinese have a bit of work to do if they are to become more
directly comparable to what Bosch and Shinamo offer.

It's only fair to say, You really should do your homework before deciding to make any purchase, mid drive or hub.
BTW, That's why we are here, to assist you with learning as much as you can, before you buy, not after.
There is nothing worse than buying something you regretted, and not getting what you wanted or expected out of it.

Is it possible to see Anebike providing e-bikes without the use of hub drive systems from China entirely?
I guess it's possible, at the same time, it's unlikely.
There are good quality hub drives on the market.

That Being Said
The last few years has proven to be a blessing in disguise.
We have learned much from our many  years of dealing with hub drive e-bikes out of China.
The costs of maintenance, the reliability, the issues associated with them, the build quality and so on.

Our natural progression from the hub drives of China to the mid drives of Bosch and Shimano has been inspiring.
During the warranty period our claims have dropped to virtually nothing in comparison to the hub drives.

The e-bike technology and the market is moving forward quite fast.
As the e-bike market heats up, develops and expands, there are new e-bikes being developed with vast improvements
in technology, drive systems, efficiency and quality over the older e-bikes.
These new e-bikes are becoming more competitively priced then ever before.
They present better value than the old outdated models of yesterday.
What was current a few years ago is now regarded as outdated, and inefficient in comparison.
Modern technology changes all the time, the batteries are a larger capacity now, the motors are more powerful.
Buying an e-bike that is 3-5 years old in technology is like buying a 20-30 year old car.
We all want the best. To learn what that is, means doing a little bit of homework.

How can viewing just one brand of e-bike be the best way of finding out what is the best e-bike for you?
What we're saying is, have a really good look around, they are not all the same, and certainly not equal.
That's what competition is all about.
And...
